The Zarina Altynbayeva Youth Music Competition (ZAYMC) is a prestigious international platform that brings together outstanding young musicians from Kazakhstan, Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan.
The Competition is committed to the highest academic standards, the preservation of musical heritage, and the professional development of young performers. By fostering artistic excellence and cultural dialogue, ZAYMC contributes to the formation of a new generation of musical leaders across the Turkic world.

ZAYMC 2025: The First International Turkic Edition
In 2025, the Zarina Altynbayeva Youth Music Competition (ZAYMC) was held for the first time in an international all-Turkic format, bringing together young musicians from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
The Competition attracted significant interest from both participants and the professional music community. More than 200 applications were submitted, and 47 outstanding young musicians advanced to the Final Round in Almaty.
One of the defining features of the Competition was the performance of works by composers of the Turkic world, as well as arrangements of traditional folk music. This artistic focus enabled participants to present the musical heritage of their countries while highlighting the Competition’s broader cultural mission.
Auditions, masterclasses, and creative meetings were hosted by the Kazakh National Conservatory named after Kurmangazy, while the Gala Concert and Awards Ceremony took place before a sold-out audience at the Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Abay.
The Competition awarded the Grand Prix, laureate titles, and a number of special distinctions, including the Bibigul Tulegenova Prize, the Gülsin Onay Prize, the Marat Bisengaliev Prize, and the Special Prize for the Best Performance of a Work by the Peoples and Composers of the Turkic World.
Today, ZAYMC continues to grow as an international platform dedicated to supporting talented young musicians and strengthening cultural ties across the Turkic world.

Categories and Age Groups
The Competition is held in three categories:
- Academic VocalsCategory I: Participants aged 10 to 14 years, inclusive, at the time of the Competition.
Category II: Participants aged 15 to 17 years, inclusive, at the time of the Competition. - PianoCategory I: Participants aged 10 to 12 years, inclusive, at the time of the Competition.
Category II: Participants aged 13 to 15 years, inclusive, at the time of the Competition. - Violin and CelloCategory I: Participants aged 10 to 12 years, inclusive, at the time of the Competition.
Category II: Participants aged 13 to 15 years, inclusive, at the time of the Competition.
Competition Stages and Schedule
The Competition consists of two stages:
Preliminary Round

- Participants complete the application form and submit video recordings of their performances.
- The Artistic Committee evaluates the submissions based on technical proficiency, artistic expression, and musical interpretation.
- The results of the Preliminary Round will be announced on 1 October 2026.

- Official Opening Ceremony and Drawing of Lots;
- Auditions of finalists by category;
- Masterclasses and educational sessions led by jury members;

The performances will be evaluated by an international jury comprising distinguished musicians, performers, and educators from the participating countries.

Фортепиано
Программа по специальности "ФОРТЕПИАНО" Возрастная категория - с 10 до 12 полных лет: I тур (по видеозаписям) Длительность программы не более 10 минут. 1. Полифоническая пьеса. 2. Этюд или виртуозная пьеса. II тур (финал) Длительность программы не более 15 минут. 1. Крупная форма (соната 1-я часть или 2-3 части; или вариации). 2. Виртуозная пьеса. 3. Произведение Вашего отечественного композитора или обработка народной песни Вашей страны. Возрастная категория - с 13 до 15 полных лет: I тур (по видеозаписям) Длительность программы не более 15 минут. 1. Полифоническое произведение. 2. Этюд. II тур (финал) Длительность программы не более 17 минут. 1.Крупная форма (соната 1-я часть или 2-3 части; или вариации). 2.Виртуозная пьеса. 2. Произведение Вашего отечественного композитора или обработка народной песни Вашей страны.

Возрастная категория - с 10 до 12 полных лет: I тур (по видеозаписям) Длительность программы не более 10 минут. 1. Этюд или каприс. 2. Пьеса кантиленного характера. II тур (финал под сопровождение фортепиано) Длительность программы не более 15 минут. 1. Виртуозная развернутая пьеса. 2. Пьеса Вашего отечественного композитора или обработка народной песни Вашей страны. Возрастная категория - с 13 до 15 полных лет: I тур (по видеозаписям) Длительность программы не более 15 минут. 1. Каприс. 2. Виртуозная развернутая пьеса (именно виртуозная). II тур (финал под сопровождение фортепиано) Длительность программы не более 17 минут. 1. Концерт 1 или 2,3 части. 2. Пьеса Вашего отечественного композитора или обработка народной песни Вашей страны.
